Percocet Addiction Symptoms

Percocet is a prescription opiate painkiller that eases mild to moderate pain. For many, a Percocet addiction starts out as using more Percocet than prescribed by your doctor. In other cases, you may take the drug more frequently than is instructed. For some individuals, even when Percocet is used as prescribed, the drug is so strong the user develops a tolerance to it. As a result, the doctor must develop a plan to discontinue Percocet use.

Percocet Abuse Symptoms

When you take an opiate painkiller prescription, it is often difficult to be objective. You may not know if you are experiencing Percocet addiction symptoms. Unfortunately, the best way to tell if you struggle with addiction to Percocet is to note how you feel when you discontinue use or even miss a dose.[1]

If you feel ill, then you are likely experiencing Percocet withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms let you know that you are physically dependent upon Percocet. They include:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Dizziness and lightheadedness
  • Fatigue with insomnia
  • Bone and muscle pain
  • Irritation and anxiety[2]

Percocet addiction includes emotional dependence as well as physical dependence. You may even crave the feelings the drug brings. When this happens, this is a serious opiate addiction. Thankfully, a Percocet detox can break Percocet addiction safely and effectively.

The Dangers

When your body is dependent physically and mentally upon a drug, your tolerance rises. Should you try to treat the addiction on your own, you take two risks: changing your tolerance and antagonizing co-occurring medical conditions.

The result can be seizures, a heart attack, coma and even death whether or not you are aware that you have an underlying medical disorder. However, if you decide that the withdrawal symptoms are too much and start to use Percocet again, there is potential for a drug overdose. These are risks too dangerous to take on alone.

Treat Symptoms

Percocet addiction and Percocet addiction symptoms are treatable with a Percocet detox followed by Percocet addiction treatment. A comprehensive Percocet rehab needs to address both the physical and mental/ emotional of Percocet addiction. You can choose an outpatient day treatment program or an inpatient residential facility.

Dear Friends,

On November 10, 2018, the Woolsey Fire destroyed The Canyon at Peace Park’s treatment facility. At this time, The Canyon at Peace Park is not accepting patients for any services. We arranged for the safe and seamless discharge or transition of all patients when we were forced to evacuate due to the fire.

For over 12 years, The Canyon at Peace Park has been privileged to provide integrated treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders to patients across the nation. Our main focus has always been on our patients and their success. We have served hundreds of patients and their families, providing exclusive treatment and services for a wide range of behavioral health and addiction issues.

Our trained, compassionate staff has been committed to delivering quality patient care with dignity and respect, with the goal of helping our patients return to their communities as healthier individuals. We are extremely proud of the sacrifices of those who worked every day, often under challenging circumstances, to positively impact our patients’ lives.

We thank the physicians and staff for their expertise and dedication in providing high quality, compassionate treatment and care to the patients we have served.
