Boutique Addiction Treatment: The Difference Between Acceptable and Exceptional

the difference between acceptable and exceptional addiction treatment

It’s estimated that there are 15,000 alcohol and drug treatment centers in the United States1 from which a person seeking addiction treatment could choose. Generally, one can expect most of these facilities to offer many common treatments and therapies that are at the center of an effective addiction treatment program. This could include individual substance abuse counseling, psychoeducational and interpersonal process group therapies,2 and relapse prevention training.

However, interspersed among the many thousands of treatment facilities, there are a special few that go above and beyond. Private, boutique treatment centers like The Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains of Malibu, California, offer much more than the minimum. Instead, a boutique facility can be your sanctuary of healing, offering privacy and luxury in an intimate environment with only the highest quality treatments.

Relish the Sheer Luxury

From the moment you first put your foot down onto the gorgeous grounds that surround your boutique addiction treatment center, you’ll know that this isn’t going to be your average rehab. Everywhere you turn, the beauty of undisturbed nature wraps around you like a soft, serene blanket. The stress and temptation you felt at home will never feel so far away as they do now. After settling in spacious, elegant accommodations, it’ll feel much more like being at a resort than what you could have expected from an addiction treatment facility. However, despite offering a meditation temple and even massage therapy for a little pampering, boutique treatment centers like The Canyon still uphold the highest clinical standards of alcohol and drug rehabilitation programming.

Find Peace and Solitude

When you choose a boutique treatment facility for your recovery journey, you can relax in peace and enjoy the utmost privacy. Offering only a limited number of beds, each patient who enrolls is part of a very small group, which affords added privacy while ensuring a more individualized treatment experience. You’re provided a safe, indulgent place in which to focus on your own needs and health. Enjoy a picturesque sunset, take a leisurely stroll around the grounds, or find a spot by the pool to relax and reflect on the physical, emotional and spiritual journey ahead.

Your Own Team of Industry-Leading Physicians

Part of being a private, boutique addiction treatment program means having a staff that consists of the best of the best in their individual fields. These industry-leading psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, alcohol and drug abuse counselors and nurses have demonstrated an aptitude across many different fields. And what’s more, each incoming patient is assigned an internist, psychiatrist and primary therapist to serve as his or her personal team of clinicians while in treatment.

Cutting-Edge Treatments that Really Work

Although a boutique treatment program wants to make your recovery experience as luxurious and peaceful as it can be, your health is still the top priority. As such, your boutique treatment program will be personalized to your specific, unique needs and will include the most cutting-edge treatments and techniques that have proven to be highly effective for the treatment of addiction. As part of your one-of-a-kind curriculum, your therapist will utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy,3 Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, which are three of the most-used psychotherapeutic modalities in the industry. Patients will have the opportunity to participate in gender-specific and family therapies as well as in diverse educational groups, including trauma resolution, codependency and grief or loss.

Experiential and Holistic Therapies to Enhance the Experience

Counseling and educational groups are important, but boutique treatment centers can also offer a number of experiential and holistic therapies4 with which you can personalize and enhance your recovery experience. The most popular experiential therapies include forms of expressive art therapy that are beneficial for emotional liberation. Meanwhile, adventure therapies, which can include a ropes course and hiking trips, offer physical engagement and facilitate emotional and spiritual healing.

A Spiritual Oasis in Malibu

canyon-welcomeMost alcohol and drug rehabs address the body and mind, but what about the spirit? At a boutique treatment center, your spiritual well-being is as important as your physical and emotional health. In addition to encouraging participation in local 12-Step programs, a boutique facility like The Canyon offers in-house 12-Step groups. What’s more, spirituality groups and guided meditation sessions can be instrumental in your spiritual restoration while helping to cultivate personal awareness.

While addiction is a challenging affliction, the resources are available to help you get your life back. The key to transforming from a state of active addiction to a state of health is ensuring that all of your recovery needs are addressed. It’s by aligning the mind, body and spirit that your recovery journey can help you reach your full potential.

Dear Friends,

On November 10, 2018, the Woolsey Fire destroyed The Canyon at Peace Park’s treatment facility. At this time, The Canyon at Peace Park is not accepting patients for any services. We arranged for the safe and seamless discharge or transition of all patients when we were forced to evacuate due to the fire.

For over 12 years, The Canyon at Peace Park has been privileged to provide integrated treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders to patients across the nation. Our main focus has always been on our patients and their success. We have served hundreds of patients and their families, providing exclusive treatment and services for a wide range of behavioral health and addiction issues.

Our trained, compassionate staff has been committed to delivering quality patient care with dignity and respect, with the goal of helping our patients return to their communities as healthier individuals. We are extremely proud of the sacrifices of those who worked every day, often under challenging circumstances, to positively impact our patients’ lives.

We thank the physicians and staff for their expertise and dedication in providing high quality, compassionate treatment and care to the patients we have served.

We look forward to carrying on The Canyon at Peace Park’s legacy through our outpatient locations in Santa Monica and Encino. Foundations Recovery Network also has other residential and outpatient facilities around the country offering the same high quality of service you’ve come to expect from us.
